Sally - 2021 recipient mare

Sally is a 2021 bay grade Appaloosa mare that we added to the ranch in December of 2023. While we aren't sure of her exact breed or combination of breeds, we do know that Sally does have quite a bit of Appaloosa influence. She has mottled skin around her lips and eyes and has small spots of white sprinkled randomly throughout her coat. Sally had a rough start in life, landing in a kill pen as a weanling foal. Thankfully she was rescued and given a soft place to land. We purchased Sally from her rescuer and spent the winter prepping her for travel south to be a recipient mare for a very special foal. While we do not have many embryo transfers in mind, we plan to utilize Sally as a recipient mare/ surrogate mare and hope to start her under saddle as an extra saddle horse on the ranch. Sally will juggle trail rides and cattle work with being a mother to a few amazing foals.

We don't believe that any horse is "just" a broodmare or "just" a recipient mare. All of our equines receive the same level of routine care, nutrition and attention. They are all special to us. That's why you'll see every single horse on the ranch featured on our website.
