Gin Blossom - 2021 APHA bay tobiano mare

Rodeo cowboy on a horse chasing a steer in an arena.

Odessa - NRCHA Open Level money earner

Odessa was added to the ranch in August of 2022, as a long yearling. Odessa has an A+ personality and is very easy to work with. Odessa is GORGEOUS and her pedigree is worth a look! Smart Delta (LTE $7k+ o/o daughter of Delta Flyer), and Quarter Horse cutting legends Smart Little Lena (LTE $577k+), Playgun (LTE $186k, ROM in cutting) and Tanqurey Gin (LTE $15k+) all appear on her papers. Just off: High Brow Cat, Delta Flyer, Doc Olena, Docs Hickory, Smart Little Lena, Colonel Freckles and Peppy San Badger... this gal is descended from cutter royalty! She’ll be a terrific cross on many modern bloodlines, too.

Odessa has the personality and brains everyone wants in a prospect. She’s confident, calm and quiet, but will turn up the energy when asked. We believe she’s got what it takes to be a nice performance horse. She’s quickly becoming a favorite around the ranch and is fun to ride in both the arena and out on trails and pastures! She’s a very confident young horse who takes new things in stride and doesn’t startle at unfamiliar sights. Odessa spent her first 8 months of training with Laubscher Performance Horses in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, before transitioning closer to home to finish out with Luke Jones Performance Horses in Allerton, Iowa.

Odessa is able to go from arena to trail riding with ease. In October of 2024, she participated in a 2-day camping trip and tackled rough and steep terrain. Some of our friends wished us luck riding a 3-year-old, but by the end of the trip, they voted her as the best-behaved horse of the ride. In September of 2026 Odessa will spend 9 days in the Black Hills of South Dakota for our annual girl's horseback riding trip.

Odessa truly is a unicorn, and we know that we will have many years of fun with her both in the show pen, and adventuring on trails with friends!
